Review

The Film 'Aaaranya Kaandam' was produced by S.P.Charan's Capital FrameWork. This Film based on a gangster story which was written and directed by the newcomer named Thiyagarajan Kumararaja. The story of this film is very simple in which the leading character is 'a bag containing heroin'. There is a two gang and both gang wants that worth full bag. Jackie shroff (as Singaperumal) is the leader of one gang in which Sampath Raj(as pasupathi) is working. At one stage Sampath came to know that his gang leader himself told to kill him. So he escaped from the gang. Behalf of Sampath they kidnapped his wife and asking him to surrender himself to the gang. This story happening in one track.

And the gang leader Jackie shroff has a girl named yashmin ponnappa (as subbu) in his home who was a slave like for him to satisfy his lust. Ravi krishna (as sappa) is acted as a twelfth standard boy who was the only person that Jackie shroff trust for taking care of yashmin. But Ravi Krishna made love with Yashmin and they both planning to take money from their leader and to elope together. This is another track.

The third track is a small boy master vasanth (as kadukka puli) and his father living in a mansion where the heroin stuff bag holder presents in the same mansion. When they came to know that herion holder was dead, they took the bag and ran away. Also they are planned to sell the heroin to the Jackie Shroff gang and so boy's father called them through phone. Instead buying the heroin they kidnapped the boys father thinking that he has the bag, but actually the small boy has the bag.

So Sampath's wife and that small boy's father were present in Jackie shroff custody. They demand for the stuff to release them. But mean while Sampath also went in a situation to give the bag to another gang opposite to Jackie shroff's gang.

Finally how Sampath rescue his wife and the small boy rescue his father and Meanwhile what was happened to Yashmin and Ravi Krishnan are the climax.
Also a scene is nicely scripted in which how sampath is recognising himself that his own gang leader saying to kill him.

The Climax consist of many twist which gives the satisfactory for the audience. And the characters are well performed by all the actors especially Jackie shroff when showing its full teeth to the people when he is angry.

There was a big doubt in this who is hero and villan but the only one sure thing is that yuvan's back ground score is the real hero.

Perfect camera and equal editing. Dialogue are nice but it can be made audiable in some scenes.

Ravi Krishna in new look is unexpectable. Nice story with slow screenplay. Anybody can believe if i say a scene in which Jackie Shroff went to bath and came after 10 min as if he really bathed.

Risky and bold attempt by S.P.B Charan. Hats off to him.

Vicky's plus
  • Acting by all characters
  • Background score
  • Twists in clymax
Vicky's Minus
  • Slow Screenplay
  • voice audiabliity

vicky's Result

The people who want entertainment wont like the film but it is very good film for the people who needs powerful story and the script with a twist in a climax.

Review
The movie Avan Ivan has the lead characters walter vanagamudi (Vishal) and kumb
udraensamy(Arya) and story screenplay and direction by Bala. This is the fifth fim of Bala but differs from other 4 films in the screenplay wise. Avan Ivan is the well commercial story of Bala which has nearly one and half hour the entertainment part but it portraits the real character and habits of the people lives in the villages of Theni. But in the story wise there is nothing new, the same thing said in "pithamagan". The another important thing to say is the dialogues by S.RamaKrishnan which is the only thing made the audience to sit in the chair for 2 hours.

Some of the new scenes sketched by Bala will attract the people more. In particular to say, the police inspector giving party to all thieves in the village for requesting them to stop their robberies, Arya asking Madhu Shalini
to make her 'head over heals', Arya dancing with his own mom after an achievement, a hero showing all the nine emotions,etc.. are new to tamil cinema.

The back bone of the film is the characterization of Bala.
First of all wanna say about Vishal (as walter vananga mudi). After watching the film every one will say " where is this Vishal previously??" .With a squint eye he played a roll of a drama artist but no where Bala showed him as a drama artist, except in 2 scenes, the opening song and the stage performance of showing all emotions.Vishal got the applause in the scene of crying in a tree at a height of 20 feet.

Arya as kumbudraen samy played a roll which is non stop speaking character. He is used fully for the entertainment purpose starting from his introduction. He slightly resembles the character of Surya in "pithamagan".

G.M Kumar acted in a roll of an old time king (called affectionately as 'Highness' by the people) who always like these two brothers. I can say that he gave a tough competition to Vishal in acting, that too before the clymax scene where he acted in nude.

Both Heroines Madhu Shalini ( as thenmozhi, a tutorial college student) and Janani Iyer(as baby, a police constable) are used just to move the story nothing more than that.

Also Ambika( vishal's mother) and Jaya Prabha (Arya's mother) were used well in first half but disappears in second half. In the first half, Jaya Prabha shines in the scene of dancing with Arya. Anan
d vaidyanathan (father of vishal and arya) caught between these two wives who always beating him.

The villan R.K just came only few scenes (as a cattle smuggler) but did his job nicely. Also Actor Surya made a cameo appearance in a scene which is no way related to the story but just Bala made those scenes to show the acting skill of Vishal.

Yuvan's music plays a important role in the film especially in the introduction song and clymax BGM. Also ' rasathi 'song is nice to hear.

Arthur A.Wilson 's camera showed the Vishal's squint eye well as much as possible. Suresh Urs editing is perfect especially the place where G.M Kumar acted in nude.

Out of 5 films of bala 4 got National Award, so there is more expectation for this film too. But the chance of getting award is for Vishal and Dialogue Writer S.RamaKrishnan.

AGS Entertainment's another succcesful film.

vicky's plus
  • Vishal's and Arya's acting
  • S.RamaKrishnan's dialogue
  • Bala's new scenes
  • Yuvan's BGM
  • Less Runtime of less than 2 hours (excluding 2 songs)
  • Scenes made audience calmness in last 20 minutes of second half

vicky's Minus
  • Same storyline of previous films of Bala
  • Showing the nude pose of G.M Kumar before killing might be reduced in count.
  • Expectation created before interval was waste because it is not satisfied after interval.

Vicky's Result and Rating
The film can be watched by all the people who want to see a entertaining movie and also the people want to see a reality movie. worth watching the film in theatres.

cinema ... cinema...

Cinema is defined as the art of making moving pictures.

But it is not the only one definition…. even I don’t knowhow many meaning does cinema holds, because “Cinema” differs from person to person….Some see that as a entertainment but some other say it as a powerful media which takes awareness to the people. Also genre of a film matters …. Some will like to see comedy based films and some other likes action, thriller, mystery, tragedy or village based films… so the thing is we cannot say everyone will like all the films, but we can say a film can be likable to certain set of people who have fond of that kind…. If u belongs to anyone of the above categories then “come on!!!” select a movie which is worth enough for u to watch based on the reviews in "vicky analysis"
